Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about our lychees
What is a lychee?
Lychees are a subtropical fruit, often called "the king of fruits". It has a rough, red outer skin that is easily peeled away to reveal the translucent, juicy flesh inside. The flesh is sweet, often described as a combination of grape and pear flavours.
Lychees contain a single large seed in the centre. They are typically enjoyed fresh but can also be used in desserts, drinks, and savoury dishes. Rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, lychees are not only delicious but also nutritious!
When are lychees available?
The lychee growing season typically runs from December through to February, perfectly aligning with the summer months and the festive Christmas season! Be sure to follow us on social media @GambleFamilyLychees to stay updated on our farm operating hours.
I am a local. Can I collect the lychees from your farm?
At the moment, we're unable to offer this due to the high demand at our farm shop
I am not local to the Sunshine Coast. Can I get some of these lychees sent to me?
At the moment, we're unable to offer this due to the high demand at our farm shop.
How should I store my lychees?
If you’re not eating them right away, keep your lychees stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Enjoy your lychees while they’re fresh for the best flavour and texture!
Do you offer farm tours?
We’re sorry, but we are unable to offer farm tours due to the demands of running a busy farm and adhering to Workplace Health and Safety and insurance regulations.
Can I pick my own lychees from your trees?
Unfortunately, no. Our farm operates under specific insurance policies and must adhere to stringent Workplace Health and Safety and insurance regulations, which restrict us from allowing visitors to pick their own fruit directly from our trees. We truly appreciate your understanding and support, and we encourage you to visit our farm shop to enjoy our delicious, freshly harvested lychees!
